From October to December 2005, WSIS WIRE brought to you a constantly updated, categorized, trilingual feed of news and blog posts covering the second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society.
The service went beyond simple news aggregation and added a high degree of editorial control to the selection process. This made possible very low levels of redundancy, a precise attribution of content to categories and the consideration of more remote sources.
Alltogether, 1780 news links were published on the wire: 1188 links referred to English, 413 to French and 179 to German language content.
Being an independent and free source of information, WSIS WIRE quickly established itself as the premier source for news concerning the Summit. This was reflected by the public acceptance we experienced, the number of visitors and the fact that many of the visitors were indeed involved in the WSIS process. Thanks go out to everybody who contributed to the success of the project. |
